1st UFO Sighting OF 2012!!! 9 VIDEOS. Glowing UFO Orb Descends Over Taipei, Taiwan Fireworks Jan 1, 2011, Video.

Note: This building is 101 floors tall, no airplane or helicopters where in the area, especially near the building. I estimate the size of the UFO to be 2 meters across compared to the windows size as it flew close.

Date of sighting: January 1, 2011
Location of sighting: Taipei, Taiwan

Me and my family were in Taipei waiting for the fireworks when my wife yelled out to me to look. I turned around toward the 101 building (once worlds tallest) and saw a glowing white orb descending from the sky. It moved away from and then toward the building and seemed to land on the lower part of the top,  or disappear on the other side. As the countdown began for the fireworks, this UFO began to slowly move away from the building and then eventually came near the ground heading back into the fireworks. At that point the fireworks were to bright and I lost sight of it. SCW

THE FIRST VIDEO BELOW IS MINE (SCW) THAT I TOOK AT MIDNIGHT IN TAIPEI, TAIWAN.

Below Taiwan News Reports About The UFO.

Hard to see in below video...make it full screen and look on right side of building at start.

...To my chagrin sadly enough, my HD cam is still on the charger, thus the need to file this lengthy eye-witness account, otherwise I would have just uploaded the video and let the skeptics (if there are any these days) fall flat on their faces.

Video or no video, we saw what we saw, a truly spectacular sighting and very odd since sightings of this caliber rarely, if ever occur in the Portland, Oregon area (our usual "ufo hotspot" is 75 miles east of here in Washington State, Gifford Pinchot National Forest and neighboring Indian reservations) until tonight, UFO sighting like what we saw are atypical at-best. Needless to say, I will not procrastinate on charging my camera like I did earlier today, hard lesson learned.

I will Google this occurrence to see if any other sightings or reports of 'strange lights' manifest in the days to come, certainly the orbs we saw resemble the Taipei sighting, nearly identically. Even more interesting is the fact that the objects that allegedly appeared in Taipei, also appeared here (around 12:00 midnight, New Year 2012) and during similar exciting human-activity (fireworks, firecrackers, loud booms of all sorts) just like the ones we had going on tonight, which opens a whole new can of worms? It almost makes me wonder how many other areas with fireworks beheld similar encounters of the unknown kind? Time (and YouTube) will tell, I'm sure.

I might also mention, around the time we were quizzically watching these glowing things frolicking above our neighborhood airspace, I did manage to check my real-time FlightTracker FlightView app on my Android phone and noticed there was ZERO AIR TRAFFIC over Portland at that moment, 12:02 AM, Jan 1, 2012, with the last flight of the night being a JetBlue from NY that had landed on-time, twenty-minutes prior at 11:41 PM (PDX-INTL-AIRPORT), so if in some remote way, these bizarre glowing lights turned out to be aircraft, the antics they displayed for 10 minutes over our house tonight were classified, as far as any publicly-accessible radar logs show, the activity we witnessed tonight is undocumented anywhere...

  2. UFO SIGHTING 12:00 MIDNIGHT, JAN 1, 2012 - EYE-WITNESS REPORT:

Well that's interesting about the UFO ORB havering around this fireworks display in Teipei because I just came in from watching people ring in the New Year 2012 blasting off fireworks in the Portland area and my mother and I both witnessed 4 strange glowing orange orbs, slowly and silently buzzing the skies for 10-long minutes, each object making right-angle turns, slowing and suddenly vanishing into thin air as abruptly as they appeared, one-by-one.

No we're not drinking (nor are we drunk), no they were not fireworks or flairs (sparks last seconds, flairs cast shadows and leave smokey contrails) these were vaporless spheres of glowing cottony light, each buzzing along in its own flight-path, bright solid lights with no landing beacons typical of winged-aircraft, and deathly silent. The orbs appeared over SE Portland, and erratically traversed the sky, moving in a South=Westerly direction before blipping out. The balls of light were below the low-laying cloudy sky, and totally out of the ordinary (we know what nightflying aircrafts look like, these were not that!)

The first thing I did a few minutes ago coming in from outside was curiously Google these keywords: +ufo +orbs +fireworks The first thing I found was this news flash along with mention of sighting in Russia on another site posted a few hours ago.

The orbs we witnessed appeared in the night sky 5 minutes before the clock struck 12:00, and floated about the sky for another 5 minutes after the New Year had begun, so 11:55 PM - 12:05 PM or thereabouts. Having lived in this exact vicinity for many, many years I've seen the daily occurrence of airtraffic descending overhead toward Portland International Airport 15 miles from here, all traveling in their usual, predictable flightpaths South to North enroute of their descent to land.

These strange bright apparitions however, had a contradictory flightpath, one I've never witnessed before, migrating instead from the South-Eastern sky and moving SW (as if to the Pacific Ocean!) which is NOT a typical flightpath for any aircraft, notwithstanding 4 very surreal blobs of orange glowing light. These things were overtly bright and solidly orange round flying circles, and so out of the ordinary for "aircraft" I fully expect somebody else saw them as we did, with so many people out in the streets heralding in the New year, somebody more prepared than I had to have caught these orbs on video!

  3. Scott,

    Thanks for the video.

Do you think there's any chance this light could have been a balloon? Can you comment on that? Did people around you see and talk about this UFO? Do you recall any other particular details that may be worth sharing?

Just wanted to link to a couple of online discussions:

  4. I was there and witnessed the whole thing. In the beginning I thought it was a baloon, but later on it started to move in verious directions, with incredible turning angles and velocities. The spot is for sure higher than 101 building (over 500 meters in height.) All my friends around saw the same thing, and no one could raise any reasonable explanation.

  6. I watched this thing flying around, looks a lot like what they saw in Jerusalem in early 2011. I can't explain it. It moved fast and was only visible for about a minute and a half.

No, not a helicopter, no aircraft was allowed in the area due to the fireworks. Also only government helicopters are allowed here in Taiwan, very few private aircraft allowed. Never heard of a news helicopter here.

No it was not a balloon. LOL balloons don't move so fast and glow so brightly. Very odd indeed. Over 12 videos on youtube, but many more that were posted in chinese. search using these words, 飞碟,台北,then press search for submissions in the last week.

  7. To Reckoning2020: Wow, very interesting idea. I didn't look at it that way, but you are probably right, how they see time and we see time will be much different, due time based on our lifespan of 70-100 years as opposed to how they may see it having a lifespan of 10,000 years plus. True thanks Reckoning.

  8. I live in a small city in Alberta, and 2011 Canada day we sat on my roof to watch the fireworks- we snapped a bunch of photos of a really strange looking u.f.o flying, it was like a huge ball of fire and we debated wether it was a meteor or an alien ship- whatever it was, it just occured to me: why do UFO's so often fly over firework display's?

    1. The aliens wish to learn about our different cultural beliefs and watching how we celebrate with fireworks allows them this chance. Fireworks are creative and artistic, something we all appreciate in large groups.
