LONDON - British astrophysicist Stephen Hawking says outsiders are out there, however it could be unreasonably risky for people to communicate with extraterrestrial life.

Peddling claims in another narrative that clever outsider lifeforms more likely than not exist, yet cautions that speaking with them could be "excessively dangerous."

The 68-year-old researcher says a visit by extraterrestrials to Earth would resemble Christopher Columbus landing in the Americas, "which didn't turn out great for the Native Americans."

He estimates most extraterrestrial life will be like microorganisms, or little creatures - however includes progressed lifeforms might be "migrants, hoping to vanquish and colonize."

The Discovery Channel said Sunday it will communicate "Stephen Hawking's Universe" in Britain one month from now.
